The benefits of engaging a freelancer

While, after many more years that I would care to recall in education, professional training and business, I find it difficult to support marketing as a short-term fix, there may be times when you simply need some marketing support. Perhaps you have an important marketing campaign, need some optimised content for your website or need to upgrade your social. A freelance marketer can benefit your business in many ways, especially during uncertain times.  The breadth of experience that a marketing professional will bring can be a real advantage as they simultaneously understand the bigger picture whilst dialling in on the detail.

The advantages of engaging a freelance marketing professional are numerous:

  • Cost effective: unlike a full time, salaried member of your team, you only pay a freelancer for the time that they dedicate to your business. You do not need to consider holiday pay, sick pay, insurance of pension contributions. Hiring a freelancer is much more cost efficient than engaging a marketing agency.

  • Flexible: A freelance marketing professional can often be flexible on days and hours worked, offering an immediate start, short notice and continued cover if a project is extended.

  • Have contacts: With their own address book, freelancers are often well connected and can bring contacts that can be a direct benefit to your business.

  • Experienced: Most marketing freelance professionals will have a number of years agency or client -side experience behind them, providing real breadth of experience to draw upon. This usually allows them to see things from a different point of view and bring a creative problem-solving approach to their work.

  • Deliver value: freelancers tend to be a less expensive alternative to an agency or hiring somebody in-house and their time spent in the industry, coupled with qualifications tends to equate to real value for money.

  • Gap fillers: Often available at short notice, freelancers can react quickly and be working for your business within a few days – there is no waiting around for notice periods to end.

  • Bring peace of mind: a marketing professional engaged on a project or campaign basis with clear KPIs will ensure work is completed and the desired outcomes have been met.

  • Deliver ROI: The right freelance marketing professional will save you time and money, work hard to achieve the desired results which ultimately means a high return on investment.

  • Work remotely: Trusted freelancers are adept to working off site, on-house or in a hybrid way, even before the pandemic made flexible working the norm.

  • Low risk: With no long term-contracts there is limited financial risk compared to hiring a full-time member of staff and/or paying high placement fees to an agency.

  • Experts: Freelancers are experts in their field and as such are efficient in their approach. It’s a cost-effective way of getting a specialised job done quickly and effectively.
